Where is the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations Located?

The current head of naval operations is Admiral Michael M. Despite the title, the Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) does not have any operational command authority over the naval forces. The CNO is an administrative position based in the Pentagon and oversees Navy organizations as appointed by the Secretary of the Navy. The Office of the Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) was reorganized to include the CNO, the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations and the Deputy Chiefs of Naval Operations for Personnel, Administration, Operations, Logistics, Air and Special Weapons, by Executive Order 9635 on September 29, 1945, and an Act of March 5, 1948 (62 Stat.).

By reorganization on September 29, 1945, the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) came under the supervision of the newly created Office of the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations (Administration).
